Ah, Christmas; the shiny ornaments dangling from up high, the familiar songs playing in malls that would probably drive you crazy if you worked there, the Christmas menus and yes, the gatherings. With SOPs in place, people are still getting together this Christmas and you can walk around (with your mask on and sanitiser in your pocket) to see the pretty lights that make Christmas, Christmas.

How can there possibly be a list of where to go for that Christmas photograph shot that doesn’t include the super artsy and trendy Pavilion Kuala Lumpur? They’re known for their beautiful installations and this year’s getup is highlighted by luxury brand Coach. With an aim to bring a touch of New York City to Kuala Lumpur, Coach’s ‘Give a Little Love’ is featured front and centre for all to marvel at. Visitors can spot Ginger the fox, Luna the owl, Belle the penguin, Holly the deer and Paddles the goose; of course, make sure to take some pictures. Oh, and there’s a 30-foot-tall Christmas tree by the entrance that’s not to be missed either.

Gingerbread cookies anyone? Or maybe, gingerbread houses? Well, at Mid Valley, you can gasp at the large gingerbread house that is well decorated to resemble iced cookies. You can get up close and admire the details that went into the project. Needless to say, it is very pretty, and it looks amazing surrounded by ornamented Christmas trees.

The Gardens Mall is usually pretty 365 days a year, but the kind of decorations that spring forth each festive season makes it worth visiting – which means you should not miss the magical forest that is now covering the ground floor. Gaze at the twinkling lights, the colourful flowers, the animals and more. Don’t forget to take photos/make some video reels while you’re at it, because you could stand a chance to win some gift vouchers.

Tropicana Gardens Mall

Hop over to the Tropicana Gardens Mall for a ‘whiter’ Christmas without the snow. There are white reindeers with golden ribbons, ‘snow-covered’ mini houses that are really outlets with things for sale, bare trees, and lights everywhere. The numerous Christmas globes, snowmen, and ornaments all come together to express a ‘season of joy’.

Last, but not least, let the young ones go for a mini train ride at Suria KLCC (Ramlee Mall, Level 1). At the price of RM8 (the proceeds aid our front liners at Hospital Kuala Lumpur), the kids get to go around the track and parents can of course flash out their phones for photographs. At the esplanade, you’ll find the 100-feet tall Christmas tree that made it into Malaysia’s Guinness Book of Records as the tallest in the country. Head to the Centre Court to meet Santa Claus in his workshop and take a family photo at the festive booth while you’re in the area. This year, there are quite a number of other Christmas corners to check out at Suria KLCC, so make sure you walk around to find them all.
