Post-war Poland wasn't an easy place to be an artist, with the communist regime maintaining an iron grip on artistic production. So Zielensky, who pushed his own take on the pop art aesthetic into the realms of political agitation, wasn't exactly a popular figure. As a result, most of his vivid and powerful paintings remained unseen until just recently. Just be thankful that they're finally in the public realm.
