Thames Rockets

The slick RIB (ridged inflatable boat) operation offers a thrilling, high-speed ride on the Thames. You can book by phone or online or turn up at London Eye Millennium Pier on spec. Arrive 20 minutes before the off to be kitted out with a waterproof jacket, a life jacket and goggle-style visors (fun in itself). The trip starts calmly enough and the guide tends to keep kids and adults entertained with fun facts and celebrity stories. Once the boat gets past Tower Bridge, it really speeds up. The cry goes out: 'Put your hand up if you want us to slow down.' If a small hand shoots up, they steady the boat. The next – 'Hold up a £20 note if you want to go faster' – has imploring young eyes answered with a collective parental 'No'. The boat zigzags excitingly, then turns around by Canary Wharf and speeds back to base. A great way to discover how exhilarating it can be to swoop along the Thames at almost 30 knots, leaving the lumbering traditional river cruisers far behind.

A fun day out for thrill seekers of all ages. This is an excellent way of seeing and learning about London, whilst jetting down one of the most famous rivers in the world. I was given a gift voucher for my birthday and had no idea what to expect. At first we jetted smoothly east down the Thames and then as soon as you pass London Bridge and the River police station, they crack the speed up full throttle. To add to the thrill they play exhilarating music in the background as they make sharp turns and create huge splashes in the water. Definitely do expect to get wet! On the return journey back to the pier, the driver gave us a short London history tour on some of the landmarks that we were passing! The experience in all lasted around an hour, however I wished that it had lasted longer. Overall, I had a great experience and would jump at the chance to do it again!

It is fun and Tim is a very funny guy with a lot of funny stories... I really enjoyed all of it (especially when the boat goes fast and they put the music of James Bond), The only issue is the price,  £40 is a lot for 40mn ride

Very, very, very good! Tristan and Salty gave us a great time on the river. Informative and exhilarating. They richly deserve an enormous bonus and a big box of puppies!

(The admin team were also wonderful on and checked up on us when we were a couple on minutes later than expected.)

New to London or jaded by all the usual tourist attractions you've already been to or seen? Then you could do worse than jump on a high speed rib with Thames Rockets and see all the river attractions from a speed boat. Once kitted out with a very slimline lifejacket, you're given a quick safety briefing and then set sail at a leisurely pace Eastbound towards the city. They even play some chilled music while you enjoy the views. Get past Tower Bridge and the river police station and they then go full throttle, playing more exhilarating tracks as the boat turns sharply to deliver even more of a thrill! Then it's back the way you came as the tour guide tells you some facts about what you are seeing. I even learned a thing or two and even noticed some new things I hadn't spotted before. The whole experience lasts around an hour and is well worth it. It's certainly a new way to enjoy the river and the sights either side of it.

The London Rib voyage is a fun activity for days when you’re keen to experience the more touristy side of London.

The concept is well thought-out, with a good mixture of an exciting boat ride and an informative tour. Obviously it’s better on days when the sun is shining (aren’t most things), but it can still be fun in all weathers. It’s a good way to tempt reluctant boys into doing something touristy, as the slight James Bond theming makes it feel a little more masculine than a duck tour!

We also found it quite good value for money.

This certainly is the most special and unique way to take in and discover about London’s famous landmarks/buildings that are situated along the Thames with a comical element as well as a thrilling speed ride. you take on a an leisurely steady pace with a very witty comical guide (ours o day was James) who will talk you through over 20 historical iconic landmarks/buildings from Big Ben to the Tower Bridge. He really made the history of London funny and interesting with his very larger than life personality and humour.

Half way through it is time for the thrill of your life in where you will be reaching speeds of up to 35 mph. I went in the evening when the sun was setting so I got to see dramatic skies over London and the London lights at night.

To top off the night we got served a alcoholic cocktail that’s if you can handle it after being shaken and not stirred.

Thames Rockets is a must if you are seeking a historical tour with a comical element and a thrill down the Thames, such fun.

It's a no-brainier! Thrills, comedy, facts,'s got to be the only way to travel the Thames. Well done to Alex for entertaining us and the Captain for the ride of a lifetime. Would 100% recommend to everyone.

It was fantastic.  Loved every minute of weaving left and then right, especially to the music.  A great experience and made better by James knowledge and funny stories of London!!!  Chris did a great job of making us all scream too!!!  Thank you, we will be back to ride again!!

Now we are in our mid 60s, this was not what I expected when my husband gave me a surprise treat for Valentine's day! After my initial terror as the boat picked up speed and dipped and weaved from side to side, (all to the music of James Bond!) I relaxed and rode with it and decided it was one of the best things we've done for ages - really shook the cobwebs away! Craig gave an excellent, informative and amusing spiel about the river and all that we were seeing, and Chris handled the boat with consummate skill. Add to that it was a wet and windy day and the whole experience was breath-taking. Would definitely recommend it - and would love to bring my grandchildren.

This was just awesome! Break the barrier was the best thing we could have done on Valentine's day! No need to say that the crew, James and Nick, did an excellent job and made the speed-boat trip an unforgettable Valentine's experience for me and my love! Thank you guys!

I took my two boys (aged 5 and 2) on the Jingle Bell Blast just before Christmas and we had an amazing time!! The weather was cold and wet but the waterproof clothing and goggles supplied were brilliant so it didn't put a damper on things at all. There was a delightful Welsh Santa and Little Mike was our great guide - funny and full of interesting facts on the sights we could see from the boat. In fact we enjoyed it so much that we have booked to do it again - this time bringing along a group of cousins too. Thoroughly recommend it!!

An amazing family experience! A great company that donated a family ride to the Brainwave Charity which gave our son and autistic daughter (who loves the water) not only a thrilling water ride, but also a visit from Santa and a present. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. We had the pleasure of two Toms on our RIB. Tom the RIB pilot whose skilled steering gave us a view and experience of the water and embankment we could never see on land, and Tom the Captain/Tour guide who was funny, witty, charming, and extremely knowledgeable - superb history lesson of the building along the Thames; better than any classroom and plenty of fresh air! Thank you everyone for the early Christmas present and the smiles on our children’s faces.

Wow! I booked 4 places for my wife (it was her 50th Birthday) and our 2 boys. What an amazing experience. It had everything - excitement, adrenalin rushes, fascinating facts, humour and music. From the minute we arrived at the docking point to the time we sadly left, we were extremely well looked after. Ginger Mike was very informative and gave us a very witty and interesting talk about the buildings along the Thames, as well as other facts about London. Yes, the price can appear a bit daunting, but it is certainly worth every penny. I would recommend this trip to everyone who visits London. It is amazing! Thank you so much.

We went for my son's birthday in August and had a fantastic time - we all loved it, and our Little Mike our guide made it a great and fun experience for adults and children. Definitely would recommend. Thank you

A wonderful and invigorating way to spend a Saturday morning. Tom our tour guide and Tom our skipper gave us a great time!!! Highly recommended!

Fantastic trip - superb driving/sailing? By Tom and thoroughly entertained onboard by host, Craig. Funny, amusing and very knowledgeable host. Trip up and down river is fantastic and just wait until they open the throttles!!!! Thanks guys!

We had a wonderful, if slightly wet ride, we all enjoyed it very much even my 85 year old Mum. Craig kept us very well informed and entertained even offering to do a stripper gram as it was Mums Birthday but was so wrapped up he could not even remove his life jacket. Chris kept us safe but looked far to bronzed to be a captain on the Thames. Would and will recommend it to anyone. Thanks..

Welsh Steve promised education and exhilaration and with Dave at the helm this trip delivered a thrilling experience much enjoyed and thoroughly recommended. Swerving at speed down the Thames with funny and interesting commentary was a super birthday present. The organisation was flawless.

Had a truly amazing trip out on the boat with a bunch of friends including birthday girl Katie Saxby. Looked after by skipper Ian and (cutie) ginger Mike. Bouncing high and hard along the Thames. Totally fully recommend it to anyone for something hugely fun and different. .

Had an absolutely exhilarating experience this morning on the Rocket with Tom & Tom. I have never had an experience like this and can't wait to go again & take my son. It was a perfect morning & the views and thrills were amazing. The soundtrack was fab & really made a difference. I would really recommend this to everyone. I had no idea what to expect as it was part of a team bonding day & I had not booked it & it literally blew me away.

The best RIB company on the Thames without a doubt. Some may be cheaper but there is a reason they have to undercut these guys - showing the way for others to follow. We have been back four years running (tried one of the others in that time and hated the experience from start to finish). We will be back for many years to come. We were lucky enough to be met by the delightful Stacey, the authentic northern London tour guide. Our skipper Ian was interactive with our children (which they loved) and the whole experience was even better than last year. The sun shining helped but we have been on in the pouring rain and enjoyed this family adventure. Thank you all. See you next year. Linda and the Keio's xx

Me and my sister just had the pleasure to be part of a fantastic rib voyage with "little Mike" (he really didnt seem to be happy about that nickname) and Tom. Both of us are absolutely amazed! Not only the very friendly and helpful team, but also the sightseeing tour by the river was awesome and entertaining since Mike had a funny little story to tell concerning each of the monuments we passed by. Highly recommended! Thumbs up from Germany

Just got back from a fantastic trip along the Thames on the London Rib Voyages - would recommend this trip to everyone! Exciting, thrilling, elating, invigorating the adjectives could go on and on! We were fortunate enough to have the brilliant Steve Meo as our guide, and we recognised him as "Owain Hughes" from Gavin and Stacey. He was fabulous, so witty and entertaining. Our skipper Dave was skilful and managed the boat expertly. Our daughters are already talking about booking up again for their birthdays. A must do trip for anyone visiting London. Highly recommended.

“RIB Powerboat experience in London (Amazing !!)” 5 of 5 starsReviewed 19 August 2013 NEW We were given this trip as a "day out" voucher and have to say approached it not knowing quite what to expect. On the day the crew on our boat were absolutely great Craig the guide and Dave the skipper really made the day. We went up from the boarding point at The London Eye to the Houses of Parliament and then cruised down to Tower Bridge with a constant and humorous commentary from Craig littered with anecdotes and interesting observations. On down past Wapping Police pier at a leisurely speed and the with James Bond music blasting out the throttles were opened and the boat took off. The next 20 minutes or so was spend power sliding from side to side at speed in an exhilarating if bumpy ride. Absolutely great as long as you have not had a heavy or liquid lunch previously !! Happily none of our group had and we all really enjoyed the trip. After frightening the life out of us we cruised back at a more leisurely rate back to the start point. The ride was great fun and the crew were really proficient in handling the powerful boat safely. Without a doubt this experience is one not to be missed when visiting London . Highly recommended. What a way to celebrate our 50th birthday year!! I must admit to being ever-so-slightly (OK - very) ****-scared as we bumped and crashed over the waves as, according to our guide Mike-P, it was a "little bit bumpy this afternoon"! Our RIB was driven by Dave-the-rave and seemed to be going at a crazy angle twisting and turning eastwards towards Greenwich "Bond"-style once we got beyond Tower Bridge and the river police ...! Thanks for a fab and memorable journey, safe but stylish!

Such an awesome idea!!!!!! I would recommend to all ages and would deffo do it again! Amy and Bill were brilliant!! :) P.s I now want to buy a speed boat!! Haha

I booked the RIB for my sons' birthday (he was 36!) and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had been on a river tour before but NOT LIKE THIS ONE! If you want excitement, humor and fun - not to mention educational this is a MUST. Not only was it exhilarating, but my son and a couple of other "birthday boys" had a rendition of Happy Birthday under London Bridge!. Would recommend this for ANY treat and ANY age. Tom's banter and knowledge was excellent and felt very safe with Paul's handling of the craft. THANK YOU BOTH.

Booked this for my daughter's 13th Birthday Party. Absolutely fantastic. A party none of us will forget. The highlight for me was when we got just beyond Tower Bridge, the Bond music starting and the rib flying up the river. Superb but also safe. Thank you so much.

After 2 weeks in London and the surrounding area, our whole family (adults and children like) agreed that this was one of the highlights. Definitely the best way to see the sights! Amy and Tom were both fantastic and the whole experience was stress free from start to finish with no long queues to wait in. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend London Rib Voyages and fully intend to do this again the next time we are in London.

Me an me son enjoyed our ride on the rib, the speed an the music were great once it got going, the crew were nice and my wife who stayed on the pier was kept company by the girl who was taking the tickets when she came out of her ticket cupboard:) she was good company and really nice,Thanks again for making it a day to remember, all the best, les

We had the best time with London RIB, they really know how to look after guests and nothing is too much trouble. We enjoyed the guided part just as much as the speed part, a really well thought out trip (a route they came up with we were told by our guide, Mike.) Was keen on The London Eye as a boarding point although give yourself some extra time as it does get very busy there and is a bit of a tourist trap, other than that this is highly recommended to all. A great attraction in the heart of London.

A wet and wild water extravaganza!! What can I say, this was and still is the best tourist trip (usually I refer to these activities as “tourist” traps but not this one!) in the whole of London. We have done all the bog standard attractions and been suitably amused but taking to the river by Speedboat is something else. I cannot describe the feeling of the wind in your hair, great sounds pumping from the on-board stereo and the laughs that the guide gives you along the way. We were so impressed that there was no microphone, just an actual live person with the natural ability to entertain the audience. Genius!! We’ll be back again and again.

My daughter bought this great afternoon out as a 60th birthday present and have recommended to everyone I speak too (Sat 18th May). I've been on HMS Belfast but it looks a lot bigger from the river. A big thankyou to Steve and Taffy who made the education part very interesting and funny and the exhilaration part was brilliant.

This is just the best way to see London from the river. Fast, furious, fun, friendly. The staff are great, the boats are great and the experience is great. Recommended to everybody that I know (and don't know!).....

Absolutely Brilliant. Amy our guide was a real laugh, but knew her stuff. She made the boring bit really fun,. Then the speed kicked in and we held on tight. Much enjoyed by all, my sons and mum alike said this was highlight of our weekend in London.

Went on this ride on 11th August what a brilliant ride. Skipper Paul and Ginger Mike well done for a superb experience very knowledgeable. Mike get the sphinx turned round the right way its annoying now we know they are

The best experience in London. We were a party of 7, with ages from 9 to 65 and everyone had the greatest time imagineable. Worth every penny and the crew were a class act. Thank you to all at RIB,
