This historic hostelry on Mayfair’s incredibly fancy Bruton Street isn’t quite as ancient as it seems (it’s mock-Tudor rather than the real deal), but it’s still pretty damn old. Dating back to the 1770s, it features has some lovely stained-glass windows, ceiling beams and wood panelling – the true marker of an excellent pub – and even got a bit of Hollywood glamour baked into its bones; give it a Google and you might find photojournalist Ray Bellisario’s amazing snaps of a young Brigitte Bardot propping up the bar back in 1968.
