Down a subdued backstreet near Peckham Rye station, The Montpelier continues to be a favourite with locals for laidback sessions, catch-ups over wine and beer and grazing through happy pub grub, which is currently supplied by Elm - the gastropub kitchen side hustle from Australian chef Mike Bagnall of Auguste in London Fields. The Sunday roast is spectacular. There’s a friendly terrace to the front of the pub and booth tables indoors for larger groups. Occasional DJ sets, cinema clubs and Sunday night jazz keep things suitably SE15.
