A drop of the hard stuff: four ways to get booze delivered to your door

Whether you want beer delivered to your desk or a late night pick-me-up, here are four London booze delivery services that will hook you up.

The cocktail service

Making cocktails taste good is a challenge, especially when all you have to hand is half a bottle of spiced rum, some flat tonic and a miniature of limoncello. Sign up to Shaken and those days of dodgy homemade concoctions could be over. You’ll be sent a box containing the wherewithal to make five drinks (and the recipes you’ll need to make sure they’re all delicious). You will have to do a little prep yourself, though – for obvious reasons Shaken doesn’t supply the ice.

The beer heroes

Be prepared for that desperate thirst that sets in at the end of your working day every Friday with the help of beer delivery service Deskbeers. It will bring you a selection box of 12 carefully chosen bottles from the best independent breweries: Pressure Drop, Partizan and Beavertown are among the names on its list. We’re fairly sure you’re supposed to share them with your colleagues, but don’t feel obliged, obviously.

The wine experts

North London-based booze enthusiasts will already be familiar with Highbury Vintners and its superb selection of wines (and almost every other kind of drink, for that matter), but those south of the river (or further afield) don’t have to miss out. Order from its website for delivery anywhere in the UK, and remember to give the shop a call if you can’t decide which bottle will go with the takeaway you’ve got planned for Sunday night – staff will more than happy to share their expert vino knowledge with you.

The full works

If you need a drink and you need it now and it’s long past closing time, who ya gonna call? Well, your options are limited, but you could try Connoser. It delivers everything from Diet Coke to Laurent Perrier Champagne with delivery guaranteed very late into the night within 30 to 90 minutes. We don’t mean to be a bad influence on you or anything, but it does means that that extra round is only a phone call away. Just drink responsibly though, yeah?

Or why not try one of these late night London bars?
