When it comes to chalking up those likes on the social meeds, it’s hardly a dog’s life for the capital’s pups. A fifth of London dog owners run an account for their four-legged chums – and you only need to check out #londondogsofinstagram to see who’s seriously working the camera, like the rather dashing Skyler van Dyke. C’mon, just look at him!

Research commissioned by the Affordable Art Fair Hampstead also found that 44 percent of dog owners take more snaps of their dogs than any other family member, while a third (more than 39 percent) are willing to splash out on professional portraits of their cute canines. You’d be forgiven for thinking that dragging a dog down to a studio for a close-up sounds barking mad – but only the finest for man’s best friend, eh? Just don’t tell the cats.

In more doggy news, a dog has been spotted skateboarding through a park in Stoke Newington.
