A Forest Hill restaurant is in trouble after tweeting that the Croydon Cat Killer’s victims ‘taste great with pinot grigio’

There’s nothing better than a chilled after-work glass of pinot grigio with a nice cheeseboard or a bag of crisps on the side. In fact, there are lots of tasty things we’d like to neck down a glass of wine with; however, the snack suggested by a south-east London bistro has made us shudder.

The Perryvale Bistro and Bar in Forest Hill suggested in a tweet that the victims of the infamous Croydon Cat Killer would ‘taste great’ with white wine. The tweet was in response to a story shared by Protect Cat’s UK which said a £10,000 reward is being offered to catch the killer, to which the bistro responded: ‘It’s just a cat… #pussybashing They taste great with a pinot grigio!!’ The tweet was posted just past midnight on Wednesday (suggesting that whoever typed the message had quite possibly downed a few glasses of pinot themselves) and it’s safe to say people were not best pleased. The tweet quickly gathered a slew of angry responses, including one from South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty (SNARL), who said they were ‘appalled’ by the message.

The bistro has since denied any involvement in posting the tweet and claim their account was hacked. They later said: ‘This horrible tweet did not come from the Perryvale or its staff and we are looking into this. We are deeply sorry.’

The Croydon Cat Killer has been at large since 2014 and is now believed to have killed more than 250 cats. Police and SNARL are currently appealing for information to try and arrest the perpetrator.

In other news, Sadiq Khan is going to ‘name and shame’ London’s criminal landlords.
