Crosstown Doughnuts is going vegan (sort of)

Crosstown Doughnuts is London’s foremost Antipodean peddler of high-quality buns. It’s not content with knocking out pert, creamy cakes, though. Oh no. It has now shifted its sights to the skyrocketing vegan market with a new range of vegan sourdough doughnuts, launched to coincide with National Vegetarian Week.

‘Vegan doughnuts?’ I hear you lament. Well, Crosstown heard you coming. The bods at Crosstown have put plenty of thought into the development of these new buns, coming up with new bakes that, they insist, are as good as the ‘real thing’. Thus, coconut butter and chia seeds have replaced butter and eggs while glazes and fillings are made with oat milk, dark chocolate and silken tofu. Very smart.

From this Friday (May 19), a different ‘flavour of the week’ will be available at each of Crosstown’s locations every Friday, Saturday and Sunday – starting with a chocolate truffle ring then followed up with a vanilla glazed ring and a cinnamon scroll. From there, it’s anyone’s guess. Make no mistake: vegans and dough fiends alike should cross town for Crosstown.

Visit Crosstown’s website for a full list of its shops and stalls.
