Every bloody year, the Serpentine Pavilion swans into Hyde Park like it owns the place and everyone goes wild for it. There it is, with its big-name architects and its fancy location. The bastard. But it looks like south London has had enough of the Serpentine hogging the pavilion spotlight, and now the Dulwich Picture Gallery has gone and made one of its own. Its pavilion is designed by hip young architecture firm IF_DO, with food and drink laid on by the people behind The Camberwell Arms and Frank’s Café. Plus, every Friday night they will be doing talks and events and opening up the permanent collection for free. Suck on that, Serpentine.

Dulwich Picture Gallery. West Dulwich rail. Fri Jun 2-Oct 8.
