My name is Lucha: Mexican wrestling is coming to London

Eddy Frankel

Typical. You wait years for an evening of Mexican wrestling in London, and then two come along at once. Bloooody typical. Not that we’re complaining, because you can’t have too much of a good thing, especially when that good thing is Mexicans beating seven shades of taco out of each other while wearing awesome multi-coloured masks. That’s right: Lucha Libre - the Mexican art of masked wrestling - is coming to London this week. Expect the bad guys (rudos) and good guys (técnicos) flying through the year and smacking into each other at high speed. Luchadores, Luchadoras (female wrestlers) and Mini-Estrellas (little stars) from Mexico will be taking over the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday July 11, while fighters from Mexico, Bolivia and the UK will be grappling at York Hall between Thursday July 9 and Saturday July 11. ¡Ay caramba!
