Break out the stretch waistbands - the fourth annual National Burger Day is almost here! On August 25 Mr Hyde will host the patty party to end all patty parties at Hawker House, with lots of our favourite traders on board. But there's plenty more ways to celebrate the beefiest day in the calendar. 700 London restaurants are offering 20% off for the big day and some of them will be laying on sumptuous new specials. Feast your eyes on our favourites.
The Notorious PIG at Patty & Bun
Due to popular demand Patty & Bun are bringing back their pork belly special for one day only. It packs serious punch with double cheese, confit pork belly, smoked garlic aioli and mouth-watering sauces squeezed between a brioche bun.
The Beast at Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club are so excited about National Burger Day that they're launching their special, The Beast, early. From August 23 you can tuck into fully-loaded breakfast themed brioche. It's stuffed with a pork and herb patty, crispy bacon, grilled kale, beef tomato, melted Swiss, and topped off with a fried egg. Oh, and in case that's not enough to fill you to the brim, it comes with a potato hash on the side. They'll be donating £1 from every sale to Create, a charity for young carers. So go on, dig deep and fill up.
The Memphis special at Porky's BBQ
Porky's BBQ is bringing us the mighty Memphis Burger at all five of its sites, and it's not one for the faint-hearted. The seriously spicy special stacks up two patties, onions rings, pulled pork, pickles, bacon, hot sauce and jalapeños.
The Dirk Diggler at Lucky Chip
You might know this high-stacked beef special by its original moniker: the Mark Wahlberg, but Lucky Chip have renamed it after his 'Boogie Nights' character in honour of National Burger Day. You'll be pleased to know the recipe hasn't changed - it's still stacked high with a 35-day aged long-horn beef patty, braised beef short rib, American cheese, pickled coleslaw, Sriracha Kewpie mayo and spicy BBQ sauce.
Iberica's Asturian burger
Iberica's upmarket special for NBD combines secreto pork and manchego cheese with red peppers and chimichurri sauce. They also throw in chips, all for a tenner.
Dirty Bones's Slow Goat Burger
If you're bored of beef then why not get your chops around Dirty Bones's slow roasted goat burger? The spicy sandwich is built from 16-hour braised curried goat, Jamaican jerk slaw, caramelised goat’s cheese and tangy chilli verde in a brioche bun. Yum.
