The three awesome new restaurants opening this week

Hungry? Three hot new restaurants are opening their doors this week, and one of them is offering a tasty 50 percent off food all weekend. Sink your teeth into these lot.

Squirrel

The guys behind concept bars Bunga Bunga and Mr. Fogg’s are opening up a South Kensington health-food hangout. Far from the Gwyneth Paltrow model, their food is affordable, virtuous and still has a sense of humour. We like the sound of dishes like “Prawn Star” and “Miami Rice”.

Soft launch: Thursday 21-Sunday 24 July with 50 percent off food.

Opens: Monday July 25

Masterchef finalist Billy Wright and Jack Layer are doing a chicken-y six-month residency on Upper Street. Expect a beak to feet menu using high welfare birds raised on Caldecott Farm.

Poppies Soho

The East End fish and chip temple gets its third outpost in Soho - and a seventies makeover. Admire the formica counters and painted anaglypta wallpaper as you tuck into their crispy fish wrapped in faux-newspaper.
