We got four amazing artists to make four different covers for us this week

We do a couple of art issues a year, and they’re always a lot of fun (and a lot of work). But this time, we upped the ante. Instead of asking just one artist to design a cover for us, we decided it would be way more fun (and work) to ask, you know, four. It has worked out pretty damn well, if we do say so ourselves. It all started with one-time YBAs and all-round art megastars Jake and Dinos Chapman, who currently have a show on at Blain Southern. They adapted one of their defaced Francisco Goya prints for us, and we thought: Why stop there?

So we reached out to German painter and installation artist Katharina Grosse, who has just made a very colourful mess at the South London Gallery, and she gave us this image of paint-covered arms – messy, again, but totally lovely.

Then we spoke to Ed Fornieles, whose show at Carlos/Ishikawa is a complex little triumph, and he sent us this image based on his ‘Finiliar’ avatars. Cuuuute.

Finally, we got in touch with Danish artists Superflex because a) we love them and b) we knew they were up to some mega-shenanigans in the Tate Turbine Hall. This image is based on the colours of British currency, and you can see it sort of replicated in the carpeted bit of the Turbine Hall.

Let me be the first to tell you, great as all this looks, we all really need a rest. While we nap, check out more art to see by clicking here.
