With one obvious exception, toy stories do not have the luckiest big-screen pedigree: the results are often either sugary cartoons for undemanding kids or noisy blockbusters for brain-dead teens. If the producers of ‘The LEGO Movie’ had taken eith...

‘Fifty Shades Darker’. The clue is in the title. The second ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ film is aiming for the shadows. It wants to be a thriller, where the erotic risk of Christian Grey’s sex dungeon is upstaged by actual danger (of the non S&M variet...

The young writer-director Damien Chazelle has followed his Oscar-winning drama 'Whiplash' with another entirely novel film steeped in the world of music. His soaring, romantic, extremely stylish and endlessly inventive 'La La Land' is that rare be...

This belated, unwanted horror sequel is as much fun as watching blood dry. The 2002 Hollywood remake of Japanese shocker ‘The Ring’ may not have been a patch on its predecessor, but it had a solid pedigree: ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ creator Gore ...

If the future of Hollywood lies to the East, we should all get very comfortable with crowd-pleasing, cross-cultural action blockbusters like ‘The Great Wall’. Guaranteed neither to offend nor confuse audiences from Beijing to Boston, this is as mu...

The title of this burger-based biopic drips with irony: businessman Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton) may have sold himself as the founder of the McDonald's empire, but the truth was a little different. Kroc was an on-the-road milkshake mixer salesman whe...

Forget Matt Damon and his shitty potatoes – the latest Martian castaway aching for Earth is a lanky teenage oddball played by British actor Asa Butterfield (‘Hugo’) in this good natured but crushingly bland romantic melodrama. Butterfield is Gardn...

M Night Shyamalan still takes himself deadly seriously, as if none of the flops after ‘The Sixth Sense’ ever happened. His latest thriller is ‘Split’, one of those sombre, cello-scored dramas about a clever psychopath. James McAvoy (having too muc...

This delightful animated feature from the studio behind the Minions movies takes a tired-sounding idea – a comedy set around a talent contest – and turns it into something winning and witty. ‘Sing’ is fast and frenetic, dashing from character to c...

Great cinema - a variety of large screens & good service. The ushers are always friendly and helpful. The cinema show a better range of films (from large blockbusters to family films to smaller independants) to most large chains - though a few more foreign films wouldn't go a miss! Would recommend Cineworld Enfield to any film fan.
