John Kearns, 2014's triumphant winner of the Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Award, brings his superb, gong-bagging show 'Shtick' to Soho Theatre for a month-long run. A four-week victory lap, if you will. His show last year, 'Sight Gags for Perverts', won Best Newcomer at the 2013 Foster's Awards. Now Kearns is the first ever act to win the main prize the following year. In 'Shtick', the 27-year-old comic explains how winning 2013's award changed his life, and that his snaggly false-teeth wearing 'character' is now 'a joke that got out of hand'. Despite the wig and dentures, though, this is the real Kearns expressing his wonderfully offbeat feelings behind the safety blanket of his 'costume'. It's unique, superbly constructed stand-up that's more accessible than you'd think.
