Getting inked has almost become a right of passage, but for every intricate sleeve and amazingly designed piece that turns heads, there’s one tattoo that just doesn’t feel right. As humans, we are always evolving, and sometimes that meaningful proverb or illustration just doesn’t fit into where you are in life. Maybe you want to erase a previous tattoo in favour of something a little more you. Fortunately, there is a way you can start again – that’s where the experts at NAAMA come in. But what’s the process behind it? And will it actually be gone forever?

If all of this has piqued your interest, you can be in with the chance of winning up to 15 complimentary laser tattoo removal treatments at NAAMA, worth over £3,700!

How does it work?

When you get a tattoo, thousands of tiny ink pigments are needled into your skin. Too big to be removed by your immune system, the ink becomes a permanent fixture for life. Tattoo removal basically reverses this process. Oh, and there are some pretty cool lasers involved.

Powerful beams of light (the aforementioned lasers) are directed at the tattoo and break down the ink pigments so that they are small enough for the immune system to flush. While this might sound pretty intense, NAAMA's unique LightSense system involves pulsing at incredibly fast speeds; rather than singeing your ink off and replacing it with some tattoo-shaped scorch marks, it gently and gradually fades to nothing. The best part? It leaves no damage behind, can be used on all skin tones and gets rid of colour tattoos.

Does it hurt?

Like getting inked, the pain of removing a tattoo varies from person to person. But the type of treatment you opt for can also determine how much agony you’re in for – both during and after. Historically, high-energy techniques have blistered and burned the surrounding skin. Forget what you’ve heard about traditional laser tattoo removal pain, NAAMA’s skin-safe technology takes the opposite approach and doesn’t damage the skin, or leave scars and blistering. In fact, many of its customers say it hurts less than getting the tattoo in the first place, which is pretty impressive.

Will it remove it in one hit?

Unfortunately, laser treatment doesn’t work like a big eraser. You will need multiple sessions to get rid of most tattoos, and the number will vary depending on everything from its size and the colour of the ink to its location on your body, with those closer to your heart fading quicker. It’s also worth noting here that NAAMA can remove tattoos on darker skin tones as well as remove colour, which is something most places do not offer.

That said, because of its gentle approach, you’re able to have NAAMA’s treatments as frequently as every two to three weeks (rather than once every two months like high-energy alternatives), meaning you’ll be able to be comfortable in your own skin again even sooner. Interested? NAAMA is currently running a competition where you can win up to 15 complimentary tattoo treatments...
