Time Out says

Let’s be honest: a trip to London can be exhausting. So if you can snag a little taste of home while you’re away, why don’t you? Citadines Holborn has everything ready and waiting to make you feel at ease. This apart-hotel comes complete with a fully equipped kitchen (yes, that means a hob, microwave, and fridge) plus all the essentials you’ll  need to be comfortable during your stay.

Things are on the basic side. But, really at Citadines, you’re paying for the location. Just across the road from Holborn station, London is waiting at your doorstep. And, with standard rooms starting at £141 pounds a night, it really is a bargain.

Why stay at Citadines Holborn?

You already know choosing a hotel in London is something of a minefield. But trust us about Citadines Holborn: it is an all-round safe bet. Its prime, central London location is hard to beat. You’re just a short walk from Covent Garden, The British Museum and Theatreland in the West End. Fancy a pint or a late-night bite? Pubs, cafés and restaurants are on every corner.

Best of all, it won’t break the bank. Rooms come with handy kitchenettes, so you can save cash by whipping up a meal rather than splashing out three times a day. There’s a small fitness suite if you want to squeeze in a workout between sightseeing. Rooms are compact but have all the essentials for a short (or slightly longer) stay. With security on the door and key-card access, think of it as the reliable friend you call for a drama-free night out: no surprises, just solid comfort in the heart of the city.

What are the rooms like at Citadines Holborn?

Citadines may not be the most luxurious apart-hotel in the city, but at this budget, it’s certainly one of the smartest choices. The small rooms pack in more than just above-average beds: there’s a fridge, hob, microwave and all the cutlery and pans you need to cook up a feast. There’s even a dining table to enjoy your culinary creations—or just spread out your takeaway and pretend you made it yourself. Our room had been recently redecorated in modern, earthy tones, giving it a calm, almost zen feel. It isn’t the most exciting space; practicality clearly takes priority, but it’s a cosy spot to rest your head after a day exploring the city.

What is the food like at Citadines Holborn?

Here’s where things get interesting. Despite giving guests more than enough to get cooking, Citadines also serves breakfast. Expect all the usual goodies: flaky croissants, cereals, fresh fruit, juice and good coffee to kickstart your day. There’s also a selection of hot stuff: beans, bacon, sausages and eggs sit waiting to be chosen by guests. There’s nothing out of the ordinary, but it is a fresh, no-frills spread that’s perfect if you want to fuel up in the morning before going out.

What is the service like at Citadines Holborn?

Once you’re past the security-like staff manning reception (they ask to see photo ID at check-in), the team pretty much leave you to it, unless you have a pressing issue. That means minimal fuss, no hovering, and the kind of low-key service that lets you get on with your day. This is by no means a criticism: everyone is friendly and professional. But, if you’d rather avoid idle chit-chat, Citadines Holborn might be the perfect place to stay.

What are the facilities like at Citadines Holborn?

Citadines Holborn isn’t pretending to be anything it’s not: it’s a straightforward, good-value hotel that delivers all the essentials. There’s a small, functional gym if you fancy a quick workout, though don’t expect anything fancy. Travellers can also make use of the on-site laundrette to keep packing light, or opt for the dry-cleaning service for a little extra convenience.

Just past reception, you’ll find a large seating area, which was full of yuppies tapping away on laptops during our stay. Luckily for them—and anyone in need of caffeine—there’s a handy hot drinks station, perfect for getting your work fix without leaving the building.

The hotel offers full access to Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs in every room, and for business travellers, there are also meeting rooms available for small conferences or private working sessions.

What’s the area like around Citadine Holborn?

The central location is Citadines Holborn’s golden ticket. There’s so much to do, there is a real possibility you might actually forget to come home at night. The British Museum is an 8-minute stroll (yes, you can nerd out before breakfast). Covent Garden is close too, full of shops, restaurants, and street performers to stare at. Fancy a show? The West End theatres are just down the road, too.

If you don’t want to walk, getting around the city is stupidly easy, too. Holborn tube is two minutes away; Farringdon is four. The area is a mash-up of old-school London charm and modern chaos. Gorgeous historic buildings sit beside sleek office blocks. Suit-clad commuters brush past tourists with selfie sticks. Street performers compete with the hum of traffic. It’s energetic, a little messy, but always fun. In short: it’s the perfect HQ for a London adventure.

Why you should book a stay at Citadines Holborn?

If you want a central London stay that’s good value for money, you can’t get much better than Citadines Holborn. It’s overwhelmingly unflashy, with solid facilities and practical rooms that give you everything you need without any unnecessary frills. Add to that a killer location, and you’ve got yourself the ideal base to get out and explore the city.
