This French festival is a writhing moshpit mass of metal and punk, with an ear-splitting array of acts spread across six stages, one of which is called The Warzone. The big names are generally established bands, such as hair metal kings Def Leppard and Whitesnake, who rub shoulderpads with Saxon, beardy rockers ZZ Top and far heavier dudes like punk innovators Danzig and Bad Religion, post-punk art-rockers Swans, NOFX, Bad Religion and plenty of doomy, dark doubly distorted metallers.
