Beats And Pieces Big Band + Kairos 4tet

Artfully bombastic Manchester-based 14-piece band playing a deft mix of modal jazz with Latin and bossa touches, plus bubbling danceable grooves beneath, to stylish effect. Support comes from Talent-heavy sax led group Kairos 4tet featuring emerging alto/tenor sax star Adam Waldmann whose warm yet biting tone, attractive rock-edged (but acoustic) melodies and dazzling polyrhythmic grooves sound something akin to Wayne Shorter playing EST tunes. The excellent band features pianist Ivo Neame, bassist Jasper Høiby and drummer Jon Scott and guest vocals from Swedish singer Mårtensson.
