Katie Melua

This warbly voiced, multi-million-selling chanteuse trained at the Brit School in Croydon and spent her teenage years in Belfast, but was born in Soviet Georgia. Her new album is called 'Ketevan' – her Georgian birth name – but don't expect any traditional central European sounds: it's full of the same Mike Batt-assisted jazz-pop as ever.
