Les Barker

Comic poet and songwriter covered by the likes of Waterson:Carthy and June Tabor, who became a cult legend on the folk circuit thanks to his sidekick and muse, a mongrel called Mrs Ackroyd who accompanied Les everywhere (once giving birth on a sleeping bag during one of his London gigs.) Barker has lately switched his creative affiliation to cats, with four charity Guide Cats for the Blind albums featuring appearances by everyone from Mike Harding and Tom Paxton to Terry Wogan and Prunella Scales.
