Mike Westbrook's Village Band

British chamber-jazz composer Mike Westbrook is best known for his characteristic blend of Brechtian music theatre, Sondheim-style operatic populism and angular, Carla Bley-ish arrangements. But here it's his 'litle big band' that explores the full range of jazz from foot-stomping New Orleans sounds, to trad through to bebop and beyond.
