Nigel Kennedy presents Bach Meets Fats Waller

Brilliant and irritating in equal measure, Kennedy is a formidable violinist and if he brings the same on-the-edge virtuosity to his jazz playing here as his recent excursions into Hendrix and Gypsy music, then these could be sensational gigs. Tonight begins with Kennedy performing Bach's D Minor Partita for solo violin, before he launches into some typically bracing readings of classic Waller ditties such as 'Ain't Misbehavin', 'Honeysuckle Rose' and 'Black & Blue'. Joined by Polish jazz guitar wiz Jarek Smietana, this should be raucous stuff.
