Southbank Sinfonia under Simon Over, with Laurie Ashworth (soprano), Nicolas Darmanin (tenor), Ruth Rosale, bassoon and Katy Ayling, clarinet. Programme includes Richard Strauss's Sextet from 'Capriccio'; Duett-Concertino for bassoon and clarinet. Plus, Highlights from bel canto operas by Rossini, Donizetti and Bellinil. (The opening concert of this year's Waterloo Festival, where the theme is 'War and Peace', showcases Richard Strauss, who showed great defiance and strength during World War II.)
