Ornette Coleman

Widely recognised as the 'missing link' between bebop and the free jazz scene, saxophonist Coleman pioneered the idea of improvising without chord changes and his whooping runs, long, high notes, distinctively quivering tone and spirally descents have become the stuff of legend. Here on sax, trumpet and violin, the master makes a very rare London appearance to close out this year's LJF in high style.
