Humdinger of a new, two-day festival which takes its name from a Velvet Underground song and is curated by trip hop inventors/illbient soundscapers par excellence Portishead, who also headline. Today's opening salvo presents the reliably splendid Ms Polly Jean Harvey, here playing from her brand new, strikingly different album, 'Let England Shake' and mighty, mask-wearing, US hip hop shape-shifter Doom (formerly MF Doom). Plus peddlers of densely textured alt.hip hop Company Flow, reunited in their original lineup and playing their first UK show in 10 years, brilliantly oddball US experi-pop duo Nick Zammuto and Paul de Jong as The Books, local peddlers of dark and doomy synth-wave, FF and Geoff 'Portishead' Barrow's krautronica trio, Beak>.
