London’s resilient cinema scene is getting another boost with news that Everyman will be opening a new five-screen venue in The Elephant.

The new £500 town centre development at Elephant & Castle will host the boutique chain’s 17th cinema offering in London.

As per Everyman’s usual programming ethos, the cinema will show the latest blockbusters, indies films and classics, as well as Q&As, special screenings, live broadcast theatre, opera and ballet, as well as exclusive events for members.

All the usual Everyman mod cons will be present and correct: velvet sofas and armchairs, a chi-chi bar, and food and drinks served to your seat.

‘Opening at The Elephant is a hugely exciting moment for Everyman,’ says Everyman CEO Farah Golant. ‘Elephant & Castle is a vibrant, creative community, and we can’t wait to welcome locals and visitors to experience the magic of the big screen alongside the warm, first-class hospitality that defines Everyman.’

The Elephant is part of the enormous £4bn transformation of Elephant & Castle. As well as all the retail space that will host the new Everyman, the development will have 507 new homes (including 49 for affordable rent and 116 for social rent).

A new University of the Arts London campus for the London College of Communication (LCC) will open in 2027. The campus will house the Stanley Kubrick archive, opening it up for public access.

The Elephant will be launching in late 2026. In the meantime, movie-loving Londoners should check out Everyman’s free canal-side outdoor cinema season now running in Granary Square.
