Pretty much ever since it opened, it’s been quite hard to get a table at the highly esteemed Tamil Prince in Islington. And we can understand why – it’s next level south Asian eats are just too delicious. So, foodies, we bring you good news. The beloved restaurant is opening a second outpost, also in north London

Opening in a more casual setting this time, The Tamil Prince is bringing Islingtonites The Tamil Crown, a pub that will serve bar snacks, Indian-inspired Sunday roasts and have a restaurant with ground floor and first floor dining space. Of course, Indian flavours will be highlighted throughout the food and drink on offer. The new space will also have a private dining room and speakeasy bar serving up Indian-spiced cocktails from Three Sheets in Dalston.

On the bar snacks menu will be the Prince’s famous okra fries, onion bhaji and chicken lollipops, with new additions joining the mix; shoestring masala fries, banana chips, samosas and roasted masala cashew nuts. Our mouths are already watering.

In the restaurant, small plates and massive dishes designed to be shared in ‘feasting’ style will make up the menu. There’ll be returning Prince classics like a beef masala uttapum with spicy coconut chutney, plus lime leaf-roasted chicken with pineapple chutney. Big plates include a karaikudi crab masala – a whole roasted crab for the table, coconut prawn moilee, and aubergine curry.

The new place is set to launch on November 18.
