Soho has absolutely loads of pubs. The problem is, with a boozer on every corner, you want to make sure you’re not spending your hard-earned cash in a musty tourist trap. Every year we publish a new list of London’s 50 best pubs – and every year we call out our favourite boozers in the West End district.
For 2026, the second-best pub in London is in Soho. According to Time Out’s food and drink editor Leonie Cooper, the boozer in Soho you need to be drinking at is the Coach and Horses at 29 Greek Street. But make sure you go to the right one, because there are four pubs with the same name just in W1.
You can spot this old-school boozer for the crowds of people it has spilling onto the pavements every night of the week, and for its bright red exterior. Inside, sip from a rotating cast of excellent independent ales or buy some of the pub’s own merch. Décor is very much traditional, with patterned carpets, 1970s wood-panneled walls and vintage logos of Double Diamond and Ind Coope displayed behind the bar.
Here’s what Leonie had to say about it: ‘Sometimes referred to as Norman’s The Coach and Horses, after its legendary and quarrelous landlord (who recently passed away at the grand old age of 99), this place was once part of the deadly “Soho triangle” of boozers, along with the French House and the Colony Room Club.
‘Current landlady Ali and her team run a tight ship, impressive when you consider how busy it gets during the after-work rush. A must-visit for anyone after a gratifying and unpretentious dose of the rambunctious atmosphere Soho was once known for. Now with added Monster Munch.’
Chin chin, see you down the Coach and Horses.
