Legendary jazz club Blue Note has revealed the opening date of its first London venue

London jazz cats, it’s the news you’ve been waiting for. Iconic New York jazz club Blue Note has revealed the opening date of its first ever UK venue, as well as a starry line-up of opening performers.

The venue, which received its licence way back in May 2025, will open on St Martin’s Lane in Covent Garden on September 23 2026. That date’s a significant one in jazz: it would have been the 100th birthday of saxophone titan John Coltrane.

The West End venue will offer more than just jazz, promising a programme of ‘R&B, hip-hop, and everything in between’. And that’s reflected in the opening lineup of musicians. Five-time Grammy-winning artist Robert Glasper will open the place on September 23 and 24, while performances by Erykah Badu, Jamie Cullum, Nubya Garcia, Yussef Dayes, KOKOROKO and Hak Baker are also already confirmed.  

As for what to expect from Blue Note Jazz Club London? Well, renders show classic jazz club vibes with cute tables, hushed lighting and musician portraits. The venue says:

‘Every detail, from the sightlines to the lighting and acoustics, has been carefully considered to create an immersive environment where every seat feels connected to the stage, making each performance both personal and unforgettable.’

There’ll be two spaces: a main room with a capacity of 250 – which is about the same as Ronnie Scott’s main club (though the storied Soho venue recently opened a 140-person upstairs space) – and a 100-cap second area called B Side which is set to open later in 2026.

Each night the venue will have two shows, at 7pm and 9.30pm. There’ll be a food menu open for dinner throughout the week, as well as a bar with cocktails, wines and spirits. It’ll be open until 1am Monday-Saturday, and ’til midnight on Sunday.

Blue Note Entertainment Group co-owner Tsion Bensusan said: ‘Our hope is that Blue Note London becomes more than a venue, it becomes a home for musicians, a gathering place for the community, and an integral part of London’s cultural landscape.’

Tickets for all shows go on general sale on Friday August 14, with presales from Wednesday August 12. There are also membership schemes, which you can find out more about on the Blue Note Jazz Club website.

The original Blue Note Jazz Club (which isn’t affiliated with the iconic record label Blue Note) opened in New York’s Greenwich Village in 1981. Over the years plenty of the biggest names in jazz have graced its stage, including Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson, Ray Charles and Chick Corea. The brand has since expanded with locations in the likes of Tokyo, Milan, Rio de Janeiro and Shanghai.
