This summer the capital has roasted in three heatwaves, while very little rain has led to Thames Water implementing a hosepipe ban. By now, parched yellow grass in parks has become the norm. London – along with parts of southern, central and eastern England – is now even close to drought.
Dare we say it, but we are slightly missing the rain. There’s something about a little drizzle which freshens up the city, and injects some much-needed green into the grass.
So, when will the heavens next open in London? Well, it might be sooner than you think. According to the Met Office, it could rain on Sunday July 26. Here’s a full breakdown of the Met Office forecast for this weekend in London.

Here’s what the Met Office is currently saying about the chances of rain this weekend.
- Friday July 24 2026 – expect dry conditions with little chance of rain.
- Saturday July 25 2026 – it’s looking like another dry day, with chances of precipitation less than 5 percent. However, this rises to a 10 percent chance of rain at night, around 11pm.
- Sunday July 26 2026 – the day with the highest chance of rain. It’s expected to fall in the very early hours of the morning, where there’s currently 30 percent chance of precipitation between 6am and 8am. This lowers to 20 percent from 9am to midday, with the afternoon expected to be fresh and dry.
- Monday July 27 2026 – Monday is expected to be completely dry with a less than 5 percent chance of rain throughout the entire day.
