London has all sorts of Christmas trees lighting up its squares, streets and stations this year. There’s the music box inspired tree at St Pancras, the simple traditional spruce on Trafalgar Square, the Burberry-styled tree at Claridge’s hotel and the twinkling light-covered tree in Covent Garden. Now, one creative agency has unveiled a fir that it claims is the tallest tree in the city.
The tree in question can be found in the Shoreditch office of ad agency Mother. It’s not one big tree, rather 70 individual trees entwined together and spiralling all the way up the building’s staircase, decked out with light-up stars. It was installed by design studio Darling and Edge.
It measures nearly 100ft (equivalent to the height of around seven double deckers), dwarfing Trafalgar Square’s 66ft Norwegian spruce and the 67ft Eastern City Tree at Pan Pacific London. The agency have named it the ‘Christmas Treenado’.
Felix Richter, the chief creative officer at Mother, said: ‘We wanted to create something that captures the energy and creativity of our agency at Christmas. It's a bit chaotic, a bit over the top, and entirely ours. We thought London might want to see it too.’
Members of the public can see the treenado for themselves (and claim a free mince pie and cup of mulled wine) everyday between December 15 and 19 from 3pm. You can book your slot here.
