If shaking a leg in remote and picturesque locations is your thing, you may recall that last month Time Out announced that Detour Discotheque is returning for 2026 – this time to a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Italy.

The travelling nightclub, which has put on showstopping nights on Swiss mountaintops, remote Scottish islands and Iceland’s Westfjords, is hosting its fifth party in September in a convent in the Italian town of Matera.

If September feels too long to wait for a proper get down, we have some good news. Detour Discotheque has ramped up its offering this year, and is hosting a party right here in London this summer.

We know what you’re thinking: the Big Smoke doesn’t exactly have the same rustic, road-less-travelled feel shared by the party’s previous locations. But what if we told you it’s being held in a neoclassical palace overlooking the Thames, with views of the London Eye and Houses of Parliament?

Yep, Detour Discotheque is taking over Somerset House, transforming the venue’s Setlist bar and restaurant and Thames-side terraces into a ‘disco time warp’. The venue will be packed with mirror balls and styled like the iconic nightclubs of ‘70s New York. Think The Loft meets Paradise Garage meets Studio 54, with the disco tunes to match.

Expect spritzes and imported US beers on pour. And if all that dancing gets your stomach rumbling, the kitchen will be open until late serving tacos, pizza and salads.

Taking place on Saturday July 25, 500 party-goers will be able to attend the London event, and tickets start from £19.50. The Thames-side terraces will open for drinks from 5pm and the disco will run until the early hours of the morning, giving you ample time to burn up that Neoclassical dance floor. Did you see that Victoria Park’s summer festival usage could increase by more than double?

Plus: Rough Trade is taking over the Southbank Centre to celebrate the label’s 50th birthday.
