Londoners, we have big news. Huge news, in fact. Time Out’s just revealed plans for our first ever London Market.
Time Out Market London will open at 55 Regent Street, an iconic West End location at the gateway of Regent Street, Piccadilly and Piccadilly Circus. The three-floor venue will span over 26,400 square feet and feature a selection of carefully curated London restaurants, bars and food businesses.
Fittingly, given that Time Out was founded in London back in 1968, this will be our flagship venue. After nearly 60 years of helping millions of Londoners discover the very best of the city’s food, drink and culture, the capital’s first ever Time Out Market is set to open in the first half of 2028.
Every Time Out Market is curated by our local editorial team. More than just a place to eat and drink, London’s Market will reflect the city’s energy, diversity and creativity with a year-round programme of cultural events and entertainment. Expect no less than the city’s most exciting chefs, restaurateurs and cultural experiences.
As for the building itself? Well, many Londoners will no doubt know the address as the site of the old Tower Records, though it was built in 1925 for the Swan & Edgar department store. These days it’s a Grade II-listed beauty – and it’s about to get even more stunning (and not just because we’re moving in).
Time Out Market London’s opening at 55 Regent Street is part of a wider regeneration of 10 Piccadilly by the Crown Estate. Developed with the Crown Estate, the venue will be designed with sustainability in mind, with energy-efficient building, food waste reduction and local sourcing (plus it’ll create around 130 local jobs).
Exactly what will feature at Time Out Market London – including the culinary line-up and cultural programme – is still under wraps. But you can expect everything that Time Out does best: the greatest bits of the city, all in one place. Keep an eye on Time Out’s editorial, socials, podcasts, newsletters and more for updates.
Chris Ohlund, CEO of Time Out Group plc said: ‘Securing this partnership with The Crown Estate to create our global flagship in the heart of Piccadilly Circus is one of the most significant milestones in Time Out’s nearly 60-year history. Bringing the globally recognised Time Out Market concept home to London is both a celebration of where we began and a statement of where we are going.
‘London is one of the world’s greatest cities for food and culture, and there is no better location than Piccadilly Circus to showcase everything that makes it extraordinary. Together with The Crown Estate, we are creating a destination that will celebrate London’s best chefs, restaurateurs, artists and creators while welcoming millions of Londoners and visitors every year.
‘As our global flagship, Time Out Market London will also become the blueprint for the next generation of Time Out Markets, bringing together hospitality, culture, media, sponsorship and live experiences in a way that only Time Out can deliver.’
Charles Owen, Head of Regent Street at The Crown Estate, said: ‘We’re proud to welcome the UK's first Time Out Market to Regent Street as the brand’s global flagship. It is a significant addition to one of the world’s most recognised retail and lifestyle destinations. It reflects the area's continued appeal to innovative international brands and demonstrates our long-term commitment to investing in Regent Street, curating a diverse mix of experiences that attract visitors, workers and residents alike.
‘Set within this carefully restored historic building, Time Out Market will introduce an exciting new food and drink destination in the heart of London's West End. As significant investment and development continue to take shape across the area, it will further strengthen Regent Street's hospitality offer, helping to drive footfall, broaden the destination's appeal and meet growing demand from the millions of people who visit, live and work here each year.’
The first Time Out Market launched in Lisbon in 2014 and the concept has since expanded to cities including New York, Dubai, Cape Town, Osaka, Budapest and Vancouver. There are currently 13 Markets across four continents.
