London 2012 Olympic Games

Seven years in the planning and £9 billion in the making, the London 2012 Olympic Games is the biggest single event to happen in the capital in many of our lifetimes (yes, even bigger than the Royal Wedding). It will take place in a 16-day splash of blood, sweat and tears as the planet's most physically gifted people vie for Olympic glory. Over 10,000 athletes will compete in 26 sports with 302 gold medals up for grabs.
