The broadcaster and writer Tom Service hosts a day exploring the seminal ninteenth-century pianist and composer Franz Liszt through presentations and round-table discussions by an international roster of distinguished Liszt pianists and scholars. With David Winston, founder of the Period Piano Company; Kenneth Hamilton, pianist and writer; Professor John Rink of Performance Studies, Cambridge University; pianist Peter Donohoe; Ulrich Gerhartz, senior technicianand director of artist services, Steinway & Sons; musicologist Dana Gooley; Ronan O'Hora, head of Advanced Studies, Guildhall School of Music and Drama and musicologist Jim Samson. The day closes with a short recital by Kenneth Hamilton, featuring both a Steinway and an 1851 Erard piano.
