London Concord Singers present music from Poland from the sixteenth to the twentieth centuries. The includes, from recent times, Gorecki's simple but intense motet 'Euentes Ibant et Flebant' contrasting with the tortured chromaticsm of Penderecki's 'Agnus Dei' and the vibrant 'Lauda Sion' by Romuald Twardoski. From the nineteenth century, the choir sings a short work by Moritz Brosig, along with 'Libera Me' attributed to Frédéric Chopin. For the final works, the singers perform music from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries by composers associated with the court of King Sigismund III. Nikolai Zielenski 'Magnificat' for three choirs and Marenzio's 'Magnifica't is for two choirs.
