Obicà Mozzarella Bar Poland Street

Time Out says

This Poland Street branch of the Obicà  group is one of five currently in London. It's a chain specialising in authentic Italian dishes and buffalo mozzarella - a cheese they source direct from Campania, and one that makes its way to Obicà's plates within 48 hours.

It can be sampled at the mozzarella bar, where diners can choose from four different varieties as well as bocconcini balls or a kilo of the stuff on its own - served with basil pesto, sun-dried tomato pesto and focaccia. They recommend you pair it with small plates, such as prosciutto, salami, olive oil cured tuna or caponata alla Siciliana - a dish of aubergine, pine nuts, almonds, raisins, capers and vinegar.

Larger dishes include lasagne, tagliolini with black truffles from San Miniato, pappardelle with a Tuscan sausage ragu and pizzas, such as a margherita or one topped with n'duja and burrata, made with stone-ground Petra flour. Desserts range from tiramisu and torta di Capri to caramelised peach with a biscuit crumble and a strawberry cheesecake made with ricotta di bufala.

Perfect location, just 5 minutes away from Oxford Circus. Nice interiors and great ambience. Very friendly staff. We ordered 2 of their pizzas and the dough was amazing. And of course a visit to a "mozzarella bar" isn't complete without having a mozzarella ball. We ordered the one layered with courgette and not only it's very visually appealing, but also really delicious. As for the dessert, there is an option to try 3 mini versions of the desserts on the menu. We tried the tiramisu (I had tried their tiramisu in their South Kensington branch and had fallen in love!), the pear cheesecake and the flourless chocolate and almond cake which won my heart over the tiramisu!

Solid Italian restaurant located just far enough from the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street. Good wine selection to accompany good food, also very well priced for the quality and location of the restaurant. Staff are very friendly and provide really good service - do not sit in the bar area, the dining area is much quieter.

I have visited a couple of times and wouldn't hesitate going back again

This review is for the Poland Street location. The dining room area is nice, quieter than the loud bar area when you walk in, with dimmer lighting. The waiter came over after a bit and I was immediately alarmed he didn't have a notepad for our various orders. My fears were confirmed. He forgot my cocktail- the deliciously dangerous Stiletto- and we had to remind him. My husband got the smoked mozzarella and I got the mozzarella with truffles. My husband liked his but found the taste overpowering after a bit. I LOOOOOOVVVEEEDDD my mozz and I think I could have died and gone to heaven. I also got the pumpkin soup which sounded enticing- bits of amaretto biscuit with it, etc. It was just .... OK. The biscuit was the best part sadly =/ with the soup being flavourless. Oh and the waiter sure enough forgot to get me the caponata side I also ordered. At that point I was full so I guess it was all well but if he has just had a damn notepad and wrote it down, he could have gotten a tip. I would return only for the truffled mozz.
