I have a friend with whom whenever we meet, we go to Wagamama and order the same dishes: green curry for and katsu curry for her. We’ve been doing it for years, but last week we finally decided to break the tradition and go for something new.

As a huge kimchi lover and having tried amazing poke and donburi in the past, I went for the spicy bream donburi which was supposed to be served with pea shoots, coriander, carrots, green onions and kimchi on a side. It sounded very aromatic. In reality, it was a blunt mountain of rice topped with teriyaki, generous amount of fish, which was unpleasantly fishy, and some veg. Not spicy at all. It was 10 minutes and my intervention to get the kimchi, which was literary a spoonful. My friend was happy with her fire cracker, though. The waiters clearly need more training on the floor as the bottle of wine we ordered almost ended up falling on our table. The rest of the stuff didn’t have extensive knowledge of the menu.

A pan Asian restaurant that has a high turn over. There are many branches in London now and this is one of the quieter ones away from the hustle and bustle Of the city I highly recommend the chicken Katsu curry. The ambience is nice, except you are sat on long table with other diners it's good for a big group. Top Tip Ask for green tea is unlimited and free

Wagamama can do no wrong in my eyes. They have a simple concept that works. It is like a safe net, you always know what you get with them. Even so much so, that I can rarely do something else than their signature Katsu Chicken Curry.

Love the conveniently located Wagamama in Spitafields market, on 1st floor, slightly removed from all the crowd downstairs.

There are other places that serve a much tastier broth for the same or less price. But this place is consistent and does the trick when you're really hungry and up for anything.
