Does north London need another vintage shop? We didn’t think so until we stepped into Scarlet Rage Vintage. It’s the retail baby of stylist and vintage fiend Jade Stavri. Her bright and breezy shop is a welcome addition to the Crouch End line-up, as favoured by media mummies, because Starvi has made affordability her forte. With years of experience picking the best vintage clothes dating back to the Victorian era – we spotted some incredible Edwardian pieces and a stunning hand-painted 1920s silk dress – Starvi only selects the best for her rails. But unlike other vintage traders, she doesn’t whack up the prices. Turnover of stock is fast: it’s replenished on a weekly basis. We found an elegant floral-print bias-cut 1930s gown for £110 and a 1950s day dress for £40. The shop also stocks a good range of retro accessories (from £5 for earrings and £12 for handbags). Sadly, Frank, the in-store sausage dog is not for sale.
