Rachel Wagstaff's adaptation of the superb WWI novel 'Birdsong' gets a touring production, directed by Alastair Whatley. Let's hope it's a bit better than the 2010 production directed by Trevor Nunn and starring Ben Barnes, which fell flat as a pancake. This one is on tour to mark the 100th anniversary of the conflict. The tale of Englishman Stephen and his fervent love for young French Isabella in the mire of war is as heart wrenching as they come.
