This new queer musical tells the true story of the titular Gwenda’s Garage, a Sheffield auto shop run by a trio of queer women ’80s Britain. As well as servicing cars, the venue became a hub of LGBQT+ activisim in the face of Thatcher’s Britain and the Section 28 legislation. The musical is written by Nicky Hallet and Val Regan, and directed by Jelena Budimir.
