Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti adapts Sathnam Sanghera’s acclaimed novel about three generations of a cornershop-owning British Asian family from Wolverhampton. In the past, Mrs Bains balances caring for her ailing husband with raising two demanding daughters; in the present Arjan Bains is reluctantly pulled back to Wolverhampton from a life in London. Iqbal Khan directs a cast of Tommy Belshaw, Jaz Singh Deol, Anoushka Deshmukh, Celeste Dodwell, Avita Jay, Kiran Landa, Omar Malik and Irfan Shamji.
