Beyond Bars

An exhibition organised in association with English Pen (www.englishpen.org) to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Writers in Prison Committee. The show highlights ten of the most significant cases the WiPC has worked on, focusing on writers including the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo, who is currently serving an 11-year sentence for his writings, Russian investigative journalist Anna Politkovskaya, who was shot dead at her Moscow home in 2006, and the Burmese poet, actor, director and comedian Zarganar, who is serving a 35-year prison sentence.
