Maximalist Italian restaurant group Big Mamma are behind a huge new summer food festival inspired by Italy’s Ferragosto celebrations in the heart of Shoreditch this weekend. In an effort to raise funds for the Felix Project and Shoreditch Trust’s Community Table, the people behind the ever-popular Gloria have teamed up with foodie friends including beloved local wine bar Passione Vino, chophouse chain Blacklock and contemporary Indian restaurant Kricket to stage a 300-person dinner party on the Museum of the Home’s front lawn.
Guests can expect a welcome drink, free-flowing Italian wine and a four-course feast featuring the best-loved dishes from the hosts’ menus, including gigantic antipasti platters, Gloria’s Pasta Freda, and Blacklock’s famous white chocolate cheesecake.And there’ll also be live entertainment, and a Tombola featuring prizes from loads more local legends, including Spanish restaurant Legado, wellness studio Masaj and boutique hotel Hart Shoreditch.
At £75 a ticket, it’s a pretty sweet deal, made all the better by the fact that you’re also raising money for two brilliant local charities tackling food poverty. And you can bet it’ll make a fabulous addition to your ‘August in London’ Instagram reel too.
