Bill Fontana: White Sound – an Urban Seascape

A newly-commissioned work by sound artist Bill Fontana consisting of a live sound feed from Chesil Beach in Dorset, which can be experienced by pedestrians approaching the Wellcome Collection on Euston Road. The idea is to transpose the rhythm of the seaside to the city by replacing the noise of one of London's busiest and most polluted thorougfares with the sound of waves breaking on to pebbles. Film footage from the beach, a UNESCO World Heritage site, will play in the Wellcome Collection during the installation's run.
