A day of debates in which historians make their case for Britain's greatest general from a shortlist compiled online with public participation – and the audience votes for their favourite. The shortlisted generals and their champions are as follows: the Duke of Wellington (speaker Peter Snow); Douglas Haig (William Philpott); Oliver Cromwell (Andrew Hopper); The Duke of Marlborough ( James Falkner);William Slim (Robert Lyman).
