Carnaby Christmas Lights
Time Out says
Carnaby Street’s Christmas lights are always some of the most fabulous in town and this year is no different. Not only will they make the shopping street look even prettier for the festive season, the new installations are also spotlighting (ahem) one of the pressing issues of our times.
This year Carnaby has collaborated with ocean conservation charity Project 0 for this sustainable display. Expect dazzling underwater scenes representing areas of the ocean in need of conservation, from floating kelp ‘forest’ and bright pink coral to the deep sea featuring 5-metre long whale that blows bubbles, giant clusters of jellyfish and 200 illuminated vampire squid. What’s more, it’s all been made using recycled and reusable materials including repurposed fishing nets, 500m of post-use bubble wrap and over 1,500 recycled plastic bottles.
The big switch-on will happen at 6pm on Thursday November 7, head along to be the first to see the sparkles and grab some bargains at their celebratory shopping party.

I must say that I end up in Carnaby Street purely by chance. I have been here before but never during the Christmas period. Its Christmas Carnival lights are amazing, they are extremely colorful and pretty and as you walk through the street they even transmit you positive vibes! Definitely a must see if you are already in a festive mood or if you fancy Christmas lights.
When I first heard of this I was like, meh. What does Carnival have to do with Christmas. BUT this is absolutely gorgeous, pretty and shiny... like Christmas is. And it's a nice take on an overdone decorations adage. Much better than the Oxford Street lights, too.
I am not going to be original saying that I love Christmas and everything about it; but what definitely is original and unique is the Carnaby Street Christmas illumination - colorful, magical and exotic.
The opening evening was definitely worth attending not only for the lights, but also great discounts, live music and tasty coffee Thumbs up!
If you love Carnival and Christmas then get yourself over to Carnaby Street for this mash up of the two. I went on the night they were turned on which was advertised as 'Carnaby Christmas Carnival'. It was vibrant, exciting and made me feel super festive. I love this quirky street on a normal day but having the crowds there for the turning of the lights was magical and included carnival DJ Norman Jay and lots of free drinks and shop discounts! If you're not quite in the Christmas spirit and need a little nudge then this light display will sort you out. It reflects the vibrant spirit of London and is just a very gorgeous sight to see.
