A London Christmas staple, Carnaby Street’s lights are typically pretty special, illuminating the street with eccentric, fun-loving tributes from everything from rock bands to robins to outer space. This year, the street is promising to transport Londoners to a ‘Carnaby Universe’ a ‘moving vortex’ of neon colour and light waves. The big switch-on takes place on November 2 when the famous arches over the shopping street will be covered with shimmering discs and neon lights.
For the fourth year running the shopping street is also partnering with refugee charity Choose Love and a Choose Love pop-up store will open on the street from November 22. Visitors can buy essential supplies and life-saving interventions for refugees and displaced people around the world. There will also be Choose Love merch for sale, which will raise funds for the winter months when help is needed the most.
The annual Carnaby Street Christmas Switch On will now take place from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday November 8. It was delayed due to bad weather conditions.
