Even if you’re not a big fan of living statues or fire-eaters, Covent Garden’s cobbled piazza and market buildings are irresistible at this time of year. The decorations bring back a mistletoe theme for 2016, with over 40 mistletoe chandeliers hanging over the area's streets and in the pretty market buildings. A huge Christmas tree glows with lights on the west side of the square, and a rather magnificent silver reindeer stands majestically on a pile of gifts on the east side. For the switch-on on 15 November, the Royal Opera chorus fills the piazza with song from 5.30pm before a performance from the Royal Ballet of the Nutcracker. The Lego Santa Express train has pulled into the north east corner of the piazza again, too, so make sure to pay that a visit. It's made of 500,000 Lego bricks and even has sounds, lights and smoke coming from its funnel.

I'm a London local and I get REALLY MAD (SO MAD I HAVE TO USE CAPITALS) when I'm around Covent Garden because it's touristy and overcrowded. That said, this year it's absolutely worth a wander over the Christmas period. One of the prettiest displays I've seen across London includes great mistletoe decorations, a huge big Christmas tree tied with an enormous bow and a very sweet festive train on the main piazza. If this doesn't get you in the Christmas spirit, I don't know what will.

Beautiful Christmas lights and the ever present hand crafted merchandise, we even listened to some Vivaldi. Loving Covent Garden!

Looking forward to all the festive stuff at convent garden , can't wait to see the Lego advent ! Always ver informative on time out .⛄

I'm going to Covent Garden on this Special Day with my two sons. We're looking forward to this Christmas VERY,VERY MUCH as it would be our first Christmas in London !! We're coming all the way from MALTA to celebrate the Festive Season in this Fun and Special Way...Merry Christmas to All..

Covent Garden is always nice to pass by over the festive period and a nice break from the madness of Oxford St...always great if you can catch a street performer or two..while holding a hot drink in your hand ;).

I liked the idea of intimate Christmas theatre very much but tickets are currently sold at LT museum for £35 so I wouldn't call it free.

I adore Covent Garden, not only at Christmas but all year round! It has a wonderful atmosphere and the place really buzzes. However, Christmas is like a wonderland. I love the huge tree and all the fantastic decorations which reminds me of my childhood. The stalls are excellent and it is wonderful to see so many people who are extremely gifted presenting all the stunning merchandise. The restaurants and coffee bars are very atmospheric. I can't wait to visit!
